Maryland Transit Administration's Purple Line Seeks Artists for Enhancement Projects
The Maryland Transit Administration’s (MTA) General Engineering Consultant Team (GEC) seeks artists to create enhancements for the future Purple Line light rail project. The Purple Line, expected to be operational in 2020, will connect Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties in Maryland.
Artists are being asked to submit applications by Friday, November 28, 2014, to be considered for future opportunities along the Purple Line. This call for artists is open to all professional artists, preferably with public art experience.
Approximately 21 locations have been identified as Art-In-Transit opportunities, including fences, railings, ground planes, feature walls, retaining walls, bridges, tunnel portals, way-finding pylons, and station canopies and windscreens.
The selection committee is currently evaluating applications to create a pool of artists that will be invited to participate in the Request for Proposals. Notifications will be sent in March 2015.
Thank you for your entries.
