Future Capital Crescent Trail

Bethesda toward Silver Spring

  • Using sidewalk or bike lanes, beginning at Bethesda Avenue and Woodmont Avenue travel north on Woodmont Avenue to Montgomery Avenue.
  • Using sidewalk, turn RIGHT onto Montgomery Avenue toward Pearl Street, crossing Wisconsin Avenue (MD 355)
  • Turn LEFT onto Pearl Street which turns into Maryland Avenue toward Jones Bridge Road
  • At Jones Bridge Road, cross over Jones Bridge Road at Glenbrook Parkway Signal, turn RIGHT onto Jones Bridge Road (using north side path sidewalk) toward Connecticut Avenue (MD 185)
  • At Spring Valley Road Signal, turn right (crossing) to south side of Jones Bridge Road and continue east towards Connecticut Avenue.
  • Continuing to use sidewalk, cross-over Connecticut Avenue (MD 185) continuing toward Jones Mill Road
  • Crossover Jones Mill Road turning LEFT toward Susanna Lane (use sidewalk)
  • Turn Right onto Susanna Lane, following Susanna Lane into Rock Creek Park
  • Follow Trail Detour signage within Rock Creek Park to the Park access near Freyman Drive
  • Using sidewalk, exit the Park onto Freyman Drive turning LEFT on Freyman Drive toward Terrace Drive
  • Using sidewalk, turn LEFT onto Terrace Drive, which turns into Grubb Road toward Spencer Road
  • Using sidewalk, from Grubb Road crossover Lyttonsville Road remaining on Grubb Road toward Spencer Road
  • Turn LEFT onto Spencer Road toward Ross Road and Rosemary Hills Park
  • Enter Rosemary Hills Park following Trail Detour signage toward Michigan Avenue
  • Turn RIGHT onto Michigan Avenue
  • Turn LEFT onto Maine Avenue
  • Turn RIGHT onto Kansas Avenue
  • Turn LEFT following trail detour signage on path towards Stewart Avenue.
  • Turn RIGHT at Brookville Road (using sidewalk)
  • Turn RIGHT onto Warren Street
  • Follow trail detour signs to RIGHT onto Third Avenue
  • Turn LEFT onto Grace Church Road
  • Turn Right onto Second Avenue

Silver Spring toward Bethesda

  • Beginning at Stewart Ave trailhead (CLOSED), follow signs to Stewart Avenue cul-de-sac.
  • CONTINUE onto path towards Kansas Avenue
  • Turn RIGHT onto Kansas Avenue
  • Turn LEFT onto Maine Avenue
  • Turn RIGHT onto Michigan Avenue
  • Turn LEFT into Rosemary Hills Park (via path)
  • Continue along Rosemary Hills Park following Trail Detour signage toward Spencer Road
  • Using sidewalk, exit Rosemary Hills Park onto Spencer Road
  • Using sidewalk, follow Spencer Road toward Grubb Road
  • Using sidewalk, turn RIGHT onto Grubb Road towards Lyttonsville Road
  • Using sidewalk, crossover Lyttonsville Road remaining on Grubb Road, which turns into Terrace Drive
  • Using sidewalk, turn RIGHT from Terrace Drive onto Freyman Drive
  • From Freyman Drive follow Trail Detour signage to Rock Creek Park access on right
  • Once in Rock Creek Park follow Trail Detour signage to the Park access onto Susanna Lane
  • Follow Susanna Lane to Jones Mill Road
  • Using sidewalk, turn LEFT onto Jones Mill Road toward Jones Bridge Road
  • Using sidewalk At Jones Bridge Road turn RIGHT toward Connecticut Avenue (MD 185)
  • Using sidewalk Cross-over Connecticut Avenue (MD 185) continuing on Jones Bridge Road toward Maryland Avenue / Glenbrook Parkway
  • At Spring Valley Road signal, turn RIGHT (crossing) to north side of Jones Bridge Road and continue west on north-side shared use path toward Maryland Avenue / Glenbrook Parkway
  • At Glenbrook Parkway signal, Using sidewalk Turn LEFT (crossing) onto Maryland Avenue, which turns into Pearl Street
  • Continue southbound on Maryland Avenue / Pearl Street following Trail Detour signs
  • SB/WB cyclists to Bethesda should use Cheltenham Drive
  • From southbound Pearl Street, turn right at Cheltenham Drive
  • Continue straight / west through mini traffic circle at Tilbury Street onto Cheltenham Drive
  • Continue straight at MD 355 / Wisconsin Avenue onto Norfolk Avenue
  • Turn LEFT onto Woodmont Avenue toward Bethesda Avenue (using sidewalk / bike lanes) connecting with the existing Capital Crescent Trail

Construction Updates and Notices

Purple Line Transit Partners (PLTP) is responsible for constructing the Purple Line Light Rail. Below are PLTP's construction notices for work currently happening in the corridor.

Primary work hours will be between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., Monday - Friday, though some work may be conducted seven days a week. Please check each notice for specific work hours.

Construction Schedule
