January 16, 2013The MTA held a Neighborhood Work Group meeting on the proposed Lyttonsville and Woodside Stations on January 16, 2013. March 14, 2012On March 14, 2012 the MTA held a Neighborhood Work Group meeting for the Lyttonsville Station and the surrounding area. At this meeting the MTA presented new plans for a yard and shop that would be located farther from residential properties. The new, more compact layout would place nearly the entire facility west of Lyttonsville Place. A two-story parking structure would cover the rail storage tracks. The portion of Brookville Road west of Lyttonsville Place would need to be realigned to maintain access to the Montgomery County Bus Facility; and the Lyttonsville Place bridge would be realigned. Community members broke into applause several times as Mike Madden, the MTA's Purple Line Project Manager, presented the new plans. The new plans were developed in response to meetings last fall when local residents expressed concern about the proposed yard and shop location in Lyttonsville. The MTA agreed to reexamine the plans for the yard and shop in an effort to address the community's concerns. After working with elected officials and county staff to identify possible locations, the MTA developed a number of options before settling on the one that would address both the community concerns and also meet MTA's operational requirements. The MTA was pleased to have been able to find a solution that was so warmly received. Below you will find the presentation, which was presented on two screens side-by-side, and mapping that was presented at the meeting.
October 3, 2011On October 3, 2011 the Maryland Transit Administration met with the Lyttonsville Civic Association as a follow-up to the meeting held on September 13, 2011. The community requested that the MTA come out and present additional information on the design option that was presented at the September meeting. At this meeting the MTA presented the additional information requested as well as some history on the Lyttonsville Yard and Shop. See below to view the presentation given by the MTA on October 3rd.
September 13, 2011On September 13, 2011 the MTA held a Neighborhood Work Group meeting for the Lyttonsville Station and the surrounding area. At this meeting the MTA presented an overview of the current plans under consideration for the Lyttonsville Station, explained what light rail stations are like and presented conceptual plans for the Yard and Shop proposed for this area. At this meeting the MTA also presented conceptual plans for some design options that are under consideration for the Lyttonsville Station area.
