  • Kefa Café

    Known by many as a Bonifant Street institution, Kefa Café has offered friendly service and gourmet Ethiopian coffee since 1996.  Owned and operated by sisters Lena and Abeba Tsegay, Kefa Café’s goal is to create a dining experience that resembles a visit with family or friends. 

    Kefa Café prides itself on its relationships with locally sourced farmers and roasters and on offering organic products that taste good and are reasonably priced.

  • MRB Counseling Services

    MRB Counseling Services was founded in 2007 and opened its Hyattsville office in 2010.  Named for its founder and CEO, Maria R. Bustos, MRB Counseling aims to provide local communities with English and Spanish mental health and substance abuse services. Their mission is to make these services accessible to the Hispanic population, which they consider historically underserved.

    In addition to individual and family counseling for those undergoing addiction recovery, MRB Counseling offers anger management classes and online Safe and Sober and Driver Improvement Class authorized by the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration.

  • Daje Wellness and Spa

    Daje Wellness and Spa, opened in November 2024, proudly offers the Bonifant community a touch of Moroccan self-care.

    Founded by Beth Mekonnen, a software engineer by day, Daje offers a space where the local Ethiopian community and others can experience spa treatments like the traditional Moroccan bath, an essential self-care practice in Ethiopia. Full-service spa treatments, sauna, steam room, facials, massages, and other skin care services are also available. 

    Visit Daje Wellness and Spa Tuesday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Spa packages and various treatments can be booked online, or purchase an eGift Card for any occasion.

  • Glee Bridal’s and Gift Shop

    Glee Bridal’s and Gift Shop Plus opened in La Union Mall in 2022, combining the offerings of a charming gift shop and a stylish clothing boutique to celebrate rich Guatemalan culture and traditions. Owner Eilleen Aquino’s passion lies in the connections she creates with her clients in celebrating social events such as quinceañeras, baptisms, weddings, and first communions.

    According to Aquino, the most rewarding aspect of her work is witnessing the joy as customers discover the dress of their dreams.  Glee is proud to be a one-stop destination for everything its customers need to make social events memorable. Latino Economic Development Center

LEDC is a Washington DC based 501(c)(3) nonprofit and Community Development Financial Institution with a mission is to drive the economic and social advancement of low-to-moderate income Latinos and other D.C. and Baltimore metro area residents and help them build assets through homeownership and entrepreneurship.

FSC First
 

FSC First was founded in 1978 to serve small businesses. Today it offers a diverse range of financing programs and revolving loan funds. It is a certified development company (CDC) and community development financial institution (CDFI) that provides creative, flexible business financing solutions to established and emerging businesses through its diverse grant and loan portfolio.

Business Development Grant Program

In March of 2024, MTA announced that Purple Line Transit Partners will provide $4 million to extend a program currently in place to provide grants to businesses impacted by revenue loss due to extended project construction. In addition, the Purple Line Transit Partners also committed to an on-the-job training program to help develop a diverse and qualified workforce in Maryland. “Success hinges on teamwork and we are fortunate for our partnership with the Maryland Transit Administration, Prince George’s and Montgomery counties, the University of Maryland, and others as we work to deliver the Purple Line as rapidly as possible,” said Doran Bosso, Chief Executive Officer Purple Line Transit Partners.

The Business Engagement Team works to build and nurture relationships with businesses along the corridor. Our team brings a wealth of experience in business and community engagement, marketing, and social engagement from various national and international industries. We recognize that construction may cause temporary inconveniences to businesses near construction sites.

We’re here to help. Our team:

  • Establishes strong working relationships with businesses along the alignment
  • Connects businesses with tools and resources to support their business
  • Examines construction activity and anticipates potential business impacts
  • Addresses operational business needs and concerns
  • Works with businesses to minimize disruptions during construction activities
